A young Yemeni Israeli woman learns of her mother’s secret romance in a dramatic journey through lost family stories, revealing the unbreakable bond between a mother and a daughter in the debut novel of an award-winning literary voice.

 

Ayelet Tsabari is the author of Songs for the Brokenhearted, which won the National Jewish Book Award for Fiction, the Association of Jewish Libraries Fiction Award, and listed on A Globe and Mail Best Book of 2024. Her memoir in essays The Art of Leaving, won the Canadian Jewish Literary Award for memoir and was listed on Kirkus Review Best Book of 2019. The memoir was also a finalist for the Writer’s Trust Hilary Weston Prize and The Vine Awards.
