Tracing Maimonides in Material Culture: His Impact and Reception Over Eight Centuries

Among the intellectual luminaries dotting the millennia of Jewish history, none shines brighter than Moses Maimonides (1138–1204). This lecture will explore aspects of his impact and influence through a study of materiality, specifi cally the production and dissemination of textual objects. It will combine intellectual, reception, and book historical research to o er a perspective on reading, writing, study, and developments therein from the medieval period until contemporary times.
