Panel featuring Natalia Aleksiun (University of Florida), Rebecca Clifford (Durham University), Laura Hobson Faure (Panthéon-Sorbonne University-Paris 1), Anna Shternshis (University of Toronto), Helené Sinnreich (University of Tennessee), and Susan Solomon (University of Toronto).
The panel examines how ‘secrets’—silences, omissions, euphemisms, and coded speech—shape the interpretation of ego-documents in the history of violence. Particular attention is devoted to the experiences of Jewish children during the Holocaust.
